Debt Solution Debate

I chose to read the article titled “Negotiators consider grand bargain on taxes and benefits” from the online articles of The Los Angeles Times. In this document the authors Lisa Mascaro and Christi Parsons talk about the difficulty the two major parties are having agreeing with each other about how to reduce the Nation’s debt. The Democrats are afraid cutting benefits, such as Medicaid,  that help out the poor people who are holding on to that thin life line that the U.S. government has thrown them. In contrast the Republicans are desperately trying to avoid raising taxes.  They don’t want to spend more money; they would prefer to spend less in a few places, while the Democrats are the opposite. This article is relevant because it affects our ways of living and it will greatly impact this generation’s future. If things don’t get resolved and the debt isn’t reduced, our future isn’t looking too bright. I wrote about this article because the messaged interested me. I was interested because I will soon become a tax paying citizen and I want to know how largely the Nation’s debt is going to affect me personally.
